Chef Ray Flournoy, 35 has been cooking for over twelve years. A Saint Petersburg native, Ray was born in St. Pete and raised on Union Street. He graduated from Boca Ciega high school in 2001, and later graduated with a degree in Hospitality Tourism and Management from St. Petersburg College. Currently, he runs both his business, The Fit Kitchen and the dining room at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, a retirement community.
Chef Ray’s experience in the healthcare industry paired with recipes he learned from his mother, nana, and other chefs motivated the chef to start The Fit Kitchen, a meal prep service run out the Uhuru House in St. Petersburg.
Ray’s biggest motivator in cooking for others is seeing their reaction and surprising them, and he loves to see smiles after people sample and love his meals.
Ray believes that what you eat determines what you look and feel like, and aims to help others look and feel their best with his food, but it’s not always about leans proteins and veggies for this chef.
Although he is the face of The Fit Kitchen, Ray snags a cheat meal from time to time and admits his favorites include wings, pizza, burgers and tots.
When Chef Ray isn’t in the kitchen, his focus is fitness and family. Chef loves fitness, movies and shopping, but his personal life emphasizes family activities, including time with his fluffy white dog, Ava.
Plans for a storefront are in the works for The Fit Kitchen, but for right now the business focuses on deliveries.
